When Your Back Goes Out

I’ve decided to live a more balanced life: not too much work or play. I’m trying to be more mindful of the things I eat, how much rest I get, how much time I spend in prayer, watching movies, on social media, etc. All around, I can use a little makeover. So, I’ve been busy working to perfect MsMissy.

While on this journey, my back went out. Yep. Literally. I have been in major pain for about a week. My balance has been off and unfortunately, a few nights ago I actually fell. Isn’t it something that when you make up your mind to be a better person the strangest obstacles come? That’s exactly where I am.

I’ve spent more time than usual feeling helpless and being more dependent on my family. During this time, I have also had the sickening thought, who’s going to marry you now?  Whew! Jesus, help me. Y’all know a I’m a #wit (wife in training) and relationships and marriage are important to me. So, this was a horrifying thought. Thankfully, I’m more encouraged and dedicated than ever to LIVE my best life. It hasn’t stopped discouragement from looking for an opportunity to snuff out every trace of inspiration and focus.

But I’ve decided: No way. Not today. Not on my watch.

How many of you have been in my shoes? Probably each of you. Different details; but we all face the tactics of discouragement, fear, and feeling inadequate and unsure. There’s nothing new about that. But I’m learning how to spend less time in the torture chamber of doubt and fear. I simply refuse. I didn’t come this far to get sucked into the vacuum of despair. Neither have you! We’re too awesome for that. Tell yourself, “No. I’m not dwelling on that…”. It works. Trust me. You have to literally shift your mind to something else. Create a No Negativity zone.

Emotionally, I feel better already and physically things are slowly progressing. I thank God for this experience because it proved my resolve to be my best regardless of my circumstances. ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿ’ช

I’m so blessed to be able to share my story with you. This is a beautiful opportunity that I don’t take lightly. Surviving is my life and I love it. I hope that you are learning to love it, too.

I would love to hear from you! Do you want to share your story on my blog?  Let me know.

Heyyy!! My name is Melissa. I'm affectionately called Missy. I'm a survivor who has learned to thrive! As one who has overcome depression, suicide, abuse and physical illness, I know that hope is real. Everything that I've been through has been for my good. My struggle helped me to more clearly see me and discover hope, happiness, and purpose.
