More about Missy

Melissa Elise Hall (Missy) is a survivor of depression, suicide and extreme emotional and mental abuse. She has also lived with chronic physical illness for most of her life. In her 20’s, she became disabled. She could describe the last ten plus years of her life as having gone to Hell and back. Despite her experiences, and the fact that she nearly had a nervous breakdown, she was blessed to discover that hope is real. In 2012, she began the fight of her life to find purpose, reconnect with who she was and to refuse to merely exist. She chose to THRIVE.

Missy is the oldest of six children. She’s a godmother to five, an aunt, and friend. She loves dogs (and calls them babies). Some of her favorite things to do are listening to music, traveling and spending time with family. She has written over 100 songs and has several that are copyrighted. In her spare time, you can find her reading, shopping online, watching classic British films, or playing games on her tablet.

Missy holds a Bachelor’s of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of Illinois at Chicago. She began her career in 2008 and has experience servicing the severely mentally ill as well as working with school systems and underprivileged families. She promotes both mental and emotional wellness, self-love and healthy relationships. She believes in dealing with life’s challenges head on and realistically. She is dedicated to teaching people the importance of being honest about where they are in life and then continuing on with hope and perseverance.

In 2015, after her book, MsMissy Speaks, was published, she officially launched Moments with Missy™. Since then, she has hosted events such as Women’s Empowerment sessions, Relationship Panels, Book-related discussions and open, candid talks about her survival.

Missy has had radio opportunities such as being featured on Intellectual Radio as a co-host of the He Said She Said show and being interviewed on Exhale Radio. Missy has recently been a special guest on both the HER Conversations and TALKKITUP with Angela Mariea podcasts. She was also a guest on the Celeste the Therapist Podcast in December 2019. In addition, you can find Missy featured as a guest writer in the first issue of the UK-based magazine, Violet Simon.

Melissa (Missy) is an Author, Speaker, Mentor, Life and Relationship Advocate and the Creator of Moments with Missy™. She is dedicated to helping people recognize their power to change and transform.

Since June of 2017, Missy has been a mentor with C.H.E.R.I.S.H,  an online mentoring program. She has also volunteered with youth organizations such as Polished Pebbles Girls Mentoring Program and Global Girls, offering her insight and expertise on a 1-on-1 basis and as a panel member.
