I am one favored woman. I don’t have the words to express the gratitude that I have for God who has completely turned my life around. I’m humbled by the many times he encourages, teaches, uplift, and loves on me. At a young age, I became a very broken person. As an adult, God gave me an opportunity to discover true strength in His word, His love, and a purpose for my life. He gave me a voice and a determination to fight for my right to live life well and reach a better version of me.
By no means do I have all the answers. Thankfully, I have a lot of them. Just a few days ago, I experienced a major breakthrough. I had been grieving and hurting most of this year because I was carrying the weight of other people’s mistakes and character flaws. God called me to become more in tune with myself and help others do the same so that the quality of their life would be more healthy and more full of peace. Unfortunately, along the way, I reconnected with my old habit of blaming myself for the mistakes of others and the demise of a few close relationships. I took on too much responsibility. I have done my best. I am not responsible for the actions and decisions of others. I was reminded of the call on my life when I read Isaiah chapter 61. I’d like to share some of the verses with you because they are so powerful. They talk of healing and restoration.
Isaiah 61:1-4 KJV
The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound; To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord , and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn; To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord , that he might be glorified. And they shall build the old wastes, they shall raise up the former desolations, and they shall repair the waste cities, the desolations of many generations.
It feels so good to be centered again — to remember that I am not responsible for fixing people but I’m to be a vessel of hope, light, encouragement and power. I am called to help people find their way to a better state of being. God forbid that I weigh myself down in the process.
The actual healer is God almighty. He is the one who makes one whole. He is the giver of life and the mender of the broken.
If you are lost and broken, I’m so glad to be able to tell you that your story doesn’t have to end here. If you have been abused, misused and taken for granted, I can promise you that there is something better. Maybe you don’t know how to tap into it. That’s okay. I’d love to help you get started.
The best way to start your journey is to know what it is you want. You don’t have to know a lot or have everything figured out. Just have an understanding of what is working for you and what is not working for you in your life. What would you prefer your life to be like? That’s a perfect place to start.
Acknowledge the things that feel right and the things that feel wrong in your life. Simply put: don’t ignore your gut feelings. You may not understand them or have the words to perfectly describe them. That’s fine. Just don’t ignore or discount them. Acknowledge them. They are valid because they are your feelings. Take some time to explore them.
Tell somebody. It’s something about verbalizing your dreams, concerns, fears, and goals. Saying the words out loud to someone else seems to transform them from being simple wishes to possibilities. It’s also a way for you to be accountable so that you actually follow through and make the necessary changes or improvements needed for your everyday experience to be the best possible. Find someone you trust whether it be a friend or professional and talk to them about what’s on your heart.
This is probably a good place to stop for now.
I’m so excited that I made it through an extremely difficult season. Relationships are super valuable to me and when they’re having difficulties I like to work things out. Sometimes, there are still unresolved issues. I have to be okay with that when I’ve done my best. I’m FREE and I’m back focusing on the things that matter most: ministry and me!
